The Prayer Room

This . . .
The IHOP Kansas City 24/7 Prayer Room began in September 1999. They have joined together worship and intercession and are onging in their 9th year with 84 two hour worship sets a week. Each worship team has a leader with about ten musicians, singers, and a prayer leader. You can view the Prayer Room high quality webstream 24 hours a day for $10 a month. Go to www.fotb.com to check it out, or just click on IHOP in my good stuff links. The site also allows you to rewind, fast forward or jump back two hours at a time to which ever set you want to watch. I tell you this is VERY COOL! Check it out.
.
That . . .
Cory Asbury and Matt Gilman have a worship team that I am really connecting to. I just really like the whole group.
Cory plays the guitar and is the team leader; Matt plays the keyboard and leads some too. They both have a real gift for flowing in worship, I love their voices, and they bring great joy to the place of worship and prayer. Many on the worship team seem on the brink of breaking out into laughter as they lift their voices and instruments to the Lord.
They have a "teddy bear" kind of drummer who plays great and seems to always be trying to keep a straight face because he is having so much fun, but trying not to show it; a really fun bass player with dread locks and very fast fingers; the singer with the red high top sneakers who sometimes sings bass when they break into a capella 12 part harmony; the black singer guy who will just break out with something great with no warning bringing glee to everyone; another guy and girl who sing and try not to giggle too much; and an electric guitar player who brings great licks out of nowhere or somewhere.
.
This is That . . .
These worship leaders really, really really love Jesus and they so help me to enter in to worship. I don't know if I go up somewhere, or if someone comes down, but I really do encounter God many times while joining the prayer room on my lap top.
Check it out. It is not entertainment, but extravigant worship and I believe most pleasing to the Lord.

Big God

This . . .
We have a big and powerful God.
.
That . . .
A. The distance from the sun to the earth is 93 million miles or what is known as 1 Astronomical Unit (93 million miles = 1 AU).
B. Neptune is 30 AU from the sun (2,790,000,000 miles).
C. Light travels at 186,000 miles per second.
D. Light can travel to Neptune from the sun in 250 minutes (just over 4 hours).
E. A light-year is the distance that light travels in one year (5.8 trillion miles = 1 light-year).
(Gen 1:3) God said “Let there be light” and there was light.
F. The Milky Way Galaxy is 100,000 light-years across (the Milky Way is one of an estimated 1 million galaxies in the known universe).
G. Traveling at the speed of light (186,000 miles per second) it would take 100,000 years to cross the Milky Way Galaxy... just one galaxy!
H. The Cosmos (created universe) is an estimated 13 billion light years wide. That equals 76,254,048,000,000,000,000,000 miles in length!
I. God describes his creation of this cosmos in ½ a sentence, “In the beginning God created the heavens...”. It was effortless for Him. All it got was ½ a sentence!
.
This is That . . .
God's front yard is 13 billion light years wide. I am barely six feet tall, and yet this all powerful God . . . thinks of me!
Jer 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope..
Even more amazing, some believers are only 5' 2" and God thinks of them too.

Red Moon Rising

This . . .
Do you remember that one really good two point sermon that Jesus preached?
(1) Follow
(2) Me
.
The Bible is the only book that starts before the beginning and goes on after the ending.
.
As a guy, if you find that girls distract you,
just look at your feet and pray.
.
That . . .
God is looking for intercessors. That’s not just a fancy word to replace “prayer.” It is a high calling—some say the supreme vocation. There is a small piece of real estate that exists in between God and His rebellious creation, and it’s called “the gap.” You are called to stand there. You were made to stand there. God said, “I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none.” (Ezekiel 22:30)

If it were up to me to lead the battle of Jericho, I would probably come up with a pretty good, logical plan. I would weigh out all the strengths and weaknesses of the situation and make plans to go forward.
Then God might say to me, "Jerry, your way of taking Jericho makes perfect sense . . ." And then there would be an uneasy pause before God finished his statement saying, "The only trouble is, your logical plan won't work".
Bummer.
"On the other hand" God would continue,"My way of taking Jericho makes NO sense whatsoever, but . . . my way works!"
So what meanest thou this?
Shouting the walls of Jericho down makes no good sense to us,
but it worked.
And believing that prayer is the fundamental answer to righting every wrong thing and the answer to every problem makes no sense to us at all,
but it works.

I am reading a great book, "Red Moon Rising" by Pete Greig and Dave Roberts. It is about embracing the low posture of prayer to . . .

Sitting Before The Lord With Bated Breath

This . . .
Just read David Sliker's blog . . . really good.
It's what "One Thing" is all about.
.
In regard to the Iowa caucuses, I just heard someone say they were "waiting with bated breath".
That started me to awonderin' what waiting with bated breath might mean.
I found two definitions:
(1) With breath drawn in or held because of anticipation or suspense.
(2) Breathing subdued or restrained under the influence of awe, fear, love or other strong emotion."
.
So I was thinking that this is a great way to express how it is to wait before the Lord. He is lovely, but terrifying. We long to see Him, but I think when we do we will be in such awe that we won't be sure which way to run.
My daughter Tarah had a dream once where she saw a fiery tornado. She determined that this was a "good tornado", but she still was not sure weather to run away from the tornado or run to it. So it is with an all powerful God. We know he is good, but he scares us.
Jesus is a lamb, and Jesus is a lion. We would like to pet the lion, but we should be very careful as we approach someone so powerful and majestic.
.
That . . .
And so I wait with "bated breath" for a Jewish man, Christ Jesus, to come and reign on this earth as my Lord and Savior. I hold my breath in anticipation. My breathing is restrained and I am full of awe, fear and love, even now as I sit in His presence.
.
This is That . . .
I would like to share an experience I had at the One Thing Conference.
I was ushering during one of the morning sessions, the worship was good, the message was good and the ministry time was great.
Then it seemed like it was all over, but Mike Bickle kept encouraging everyone to stick with it and press in a little bit longer. As many were encountering the Lord, I noticed a black man about my age just worshiping and crying out like many others. I guess it was not too unusual for me to notice him since he was the only black man in the section I was ushering. But the Lord kept pointing him out to me. I thought maybe I should go offer to pray for him or say something to him, but I really had nothing to say. I thought I had missed my chance when the music began to end, but then Mike again said, "Just a little longer".
Then I knew I could sit there no longer. I went over to where he was and just put my arm around him. He responed in kind, and we just sat there hugging each other cheek to cheek for a minute or two, weeping the whole time. The love of the Lord was all around. Then I said a short blessing over him and walked away, thanking the Lord for his great love.

One Thing

This . . .
Just got back from One Thing, and my mom kept saying,
"One more thing . . ."
Change a light bulb; Take down the tree; Put this away; Get this down . . .
I just got thru running the vacuum and when she said, "One more thing . . ."
I said, "Tomorrow".
.
That . . .
I no doubt will have something to say about the One Thing Conference in the next few days, but I have added a "Backstage with Jason Upton", "The Countdown" video kind of documents what I was doing for a couple of days before the conference, and "The Prayer Room @ One Thing" gives you an idea of what was going on there. I also added a couple of links in the Good Stuff list.
.
This is That . . .
Pay special attention to Lou Engle and "The Call" in the Good Stuff links. I believe Lou Engle is hearing from the heart of God and is speaking it out with great authority. It would be good to listen to what he has to say. More to come.
