Day 32 . . . Eight Days To Go!

This . . .
I believe the rain is coming.
.
That . . .
Some days it doesnt rain.
A dry and barren land.
Some days it sprinkles.
Ankle Deep
Some days it rains.
Waist Deep
.
This is That . . .
Some days it pours.

Great Prayer Meeting

Day 28 . . . 12 days to go.
.
Here is what I believe about a person who is lost.
It is like they are standing in the middle of the highway with a semi-truck fast approaching. They do not choose to exercise their free will and get out of the way because they are blinded to the truth and can't see the semi coming.
We can't force them to receive Jesus, but we can pray that God will remove the blinders, and then in a moment of clarity they will be able to see the approaching danger and will make the obvious correct choice. No one will remain on that highway if they can see the semi-truck coming with Jesus beckoning them to come to Him.
.
This . . .
I attended a prayer meeting this afternoon with Jan, Alphie, John and Valerie. Somewhere in there, I prayed that if there was anyone present at the evening service who didn't know Jesus, that God would take down the blinders and send a moment of clarity so that the person would be able to see their sin, realize their need of a Saviour, and understand that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
.
That . . .
During the evening meeting, Doug Sherman shared that his father, an 86 year old Jewish man, was ill and in great danger because he didn't know Jesus.
As I continued in worship, I visualized that I was holding Doug's dad in my hand, and was lifting him up to the Lord in prayer.
Then I heard the voice of the enemy say, "He is lost."
In response, I heard another voice scream out, "No!"
And then another intercessor screamed out, "No!" And then another.
I determined that it was time to go to battle for the soul of this elderly Jewish man.
.
This is That . . .
Let this be my testimony of what happened as a small group of people gathered to pray on Sunday evening, June 24, 2007.
As we waited on the Lord, He heard our cries and answered.
The sea was parted and the waters of the river Jordan rolled back.
The trumpet was sounded, and an elderly Jewish man received Jesus as his saviour when the walls of his unbelief crumbled to the ground.
I could see the Calvary (The Lord's Army) come up over a hill on the horizon riding on horses in great numbers. They sounded a trumpet of victory and came and saved the day.
The guy got the girl, and they rode off together into the sunset.
It was a happy ending.
The next morning, as the sun came up, a great mountain had moved from one side of the valley to the other. It was a new day, and nothing would ever be the same.
I prophecy that this will be my testimony of what happened as a small group of people gathered to pray on the evening of Sunday, June 24, 2007.
As we interceed, let faith arise and salvation spring forth in the name of Jesus,
AMEN.
.
If this all seems a bit strange, I would agree.
It seems that way to me too!
Never the less, that's my testimony, and I'm stickin' to it!
As Lily Tomlin used to say . . . "And that's the truth! . . . thblthsbt!"

Tell Me The Stories Of Jesus

Day 27 - Thirteen Days to Go
.
This . . .
Fish lost.
Love of the Father.
Pelican heroism.
Fish amnesia.
Crab torture.
One Fish found.
Many Fish caught.
Fish unity.
Keep swimming.
Many Fish free.
One Fish dead. (Not Really)
I love you Dad. I love you too Son.
Fish hugs and fin holding.
The End.
.
I love you Elijah. If we were fish I would hug you and hold your fin.
.
That . . .
Tell me the stories of Jesus.
I keep forgetting.
.
This is That . . .
There are times when I am full of faith, and times when I am full of something else.
My faith is strengthened when I share the word of the Lord with fellow believers. There is something about two or three gathered together and believing and encouraging one another that is very powerful.
Romans 10
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
That is why we need to keep telling and hearing the stories of Jesus over and over again.
Romans 12
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Being "conformed" would be believing what the world says.
Being "transformed" would be believing what God's word says.
As we continually hear what God says, we begin to say and believe what God says.
When we say and believe what God says, our minds are renewed.
So tell me about Jesus, the "Word of God".
And let me tell you about Jesus.
And then let us believe and agree together and let faith arise.

Day 26

.
This . . .
Every once in a while I hear someone say something about heroes.
Let me tell you about my heroes . . . to me they are those who are radical believers in Jesus. The ones who know they are nothing without Christ. The ones who embrace prayer as a strong thing. The ones who know their great need of God; those who mourn over their sin and the sins of others; those who hunger to be righteous; those who desire to see every wrong thing made right and every broken thing made whole through the power of a loving God; those who understand that last is first; that the greatest among us are the servants; those who know how wretched they are, but desire to have clean hands and pure hearts; those who weep between the porch and the altar, crying out for mercy; those who embrace weakness and cry out to a powerful and loving God.
.
That . . .
I love the body of Christ.
The ones who love Jesus, and the ones that He loves.
.
This is That . . .

Matthew 5
1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:
3 “ Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you

.
These are my heroes . . . and sheroes.

It's Halftime

Day 20
Joel 2
“ Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”
13 So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.
14 Who knows if He will turn and relent, And leave a blessing behind Him— A grain offering and a drink offering For the LORD your God?
15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, Consecrate a fast, Call a sacred assembly;
16 Gather the people, Sanctify the congregation, Assemble the elders, Gather the children and nursing babes; Let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, And the bride from her dressing room.
17 Let the priests, who minister to the LORD, Weep between the porch and the altar; Let them say, “Spare Your people, O LORD, And do not give Your heritage to reproach, That the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, Where is their God?’”

.
This . . .
Today ends the first half of this forty day season of fasting and prayer. Three weeks from today marks "The Call" in Nashville where 100,000 are expected to gather together at the football stadium where the Titan's play. It is called LP Field and seats approximately 68,798. Add to that the space on the field and it still comes up short of seating 100,000. Never the less, I believe that there will be more than 100,000 who attend, filling the stadium inside and out.
.
That . . .
I have always wished that I had been at the Woodstock festival back in 1969. Even though I wasn't there, I embraced the "spirit of Woodstock" as a young 20 year old during the 70's.
It seemed harmless. It seemed good. It seemed right.
It wasn't.
.
Now I want to make a much wiser choice of embracing God in this season and being present at "The Call".
It seems to be God's heart. It seems good. It seems right.
It is.

This is That . . .
It's halftime. Time to re-group. Time to make adjustments and change whatever strategies need to be changed and make plans to finish strong. I am ready to sign up again to press in and pray. To turn to God with all of my heart with weeping, fasting and mourning. To rend my heart, to weep between the porch and the altar.
To blow the trumpet in Zion and say,
“Spare Your people, O LORD."
.
Joel 2
32 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved.
For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the LORD has said,
Among the remnant whom the LORD calls.

There Is Something Bigger Going On

Day 18
.
This . . .
I know that there are some people who know me just barely, or a little bit, or pretty well, or even really well who may think I am not altogether "normal" in my views of who Jesus is, and what I believe about Him and the season we are in. There has been something deep in my spirit for a few years now that I have found hard to express to others and even to God. I am usually sorely dissapointed when I try. It is like God is encouraging me with, "Get Ready", but at the same time is saying, "Not Yet".
I believe the body of Christ is pregnant, that a birthing of something "new" is coming, and I am becoming aware that there are "many" all over this nation and world who sense the same thing. I am not alone. There is "something bigger going on, something bigger than me".
It is something Holy.
.
That . . .
And so, I find myself in a company of people who are in a season of fasting and prayer for forty days, believing that as we rend our hearts, God will rend the heavens and come down and encounter us in new and powerful ways that we have not known before.
.
This is That . . .
I listened to a message by Francis Frangipane today. He expresses exactly how I feel. The paradigm that he describes of going hard after God and seeking His face is exactly the place I find myself in. If you are interested in knowing what makes me tick, this is it.
Rather than write down "everything" he says, I thought it would be better to just encourage you to listen.
Don't just pass this by. Take time to settle down for a moment and listen.
I can't figure out how to provide a direct link, so you will have to just copy and paste the link below.

Encouragement

Day 15
.
This . . .
I left my laptop in Little Rock on Sunday and so I am experiencing life without a lap. Please pray for me as I endure this great difficulty.

That . . .
I am really blessed and impacted by the words of this worship song.

Where you go, I go.
What you say, I say.
What you pray, I pray.
What you pray, I pray.

Jesus only did what He saw you do.
He would only say what He heard you speak.
He would only move when He felt you lead.
Following your heart following your Spirit.

How could I expect to walk without you.
When every move that Jesus made was in surrender.
I will not begin to live without you.
For you alone are worthy and you are always good.

God, I long to hear your voice like Jesus did. Teach me to hear your voice. Speak to me like you did to Jesus. And
Jesus . . . I want to be like you. Make me like you.

This is That . . .
From "David Sliker's" blog today.

40 days is a long time.

I, for one, am finding myself in dire need to refocus and set myself again for the next phase of our 40-day fast and not lose momentum. Initial zeal and passion that ignites the heart at the beginning phases of a corporate fast can quickly fade in the midst of something like this. It’s so easy for me to disconnect from the reasons that I said “yes” to this fast in the first place and lose my way a little related to time, energy, and prayer. How tragic to endure a 40-day fast and find that I prayed less not more?

It’s a fight in our weakness to say “yes” to God - not one time, but minute by minute, choice by choice, step by step. I feel like the offer of a lifetime has been extended to me - to participate in a historic fast that in many ways is a continuation of a true historic fast - and yet my mind and my heart are prone to wander. And so it is that I present myself to the Lord again today, asking for fresh grace and power to lay hold of a resolve that is beyond me. I want a resolve that is God-birthed and ignited. I want a fresh zeal to arise within me to lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.

I do not simply want to lay hold of an expression of Christianity - even a “better” one. I want to lay hold of Jesus. And so I press on.

How are you doing today? Let’s go again, together, into the fresh pursuit of His heart and His high calling for our lives.

Grace of God

Day 13
.
This . . .
Paraphrased quote from Mike Bickle
"There is a false doctrine of Grace that many are looking for. They look for a way to figure out the Grace of God so they can sin more, seek God less and claim God's grace to cover it all. It is better to look for a way to interpret the Grace of God in a way that causes us to give ourselves more ardently and fully to God. That's the true definition of the Grace of God. It impowers our hearts to give ourselves more abundantly to God. Grace isn't the way to figure out how we can sin more and not get in trouble, or do less with God and still be OK. There is a false doctrine of grace in the land."
.
That . . .
Four Beasts From Daniel 7

Daniel 7
2 Daniel spoke, saying, “I saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the Great Sea. 3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, each different from the other.
.
This is That . . .
I encourage you to read Daniel 7 as though you have never read it before. Put away anything you have ever heard or been told about it, and then just ask the Spirit within you "What Meanest Thou This?"
.
I love this part at the end,
26 “But then the court will pass judgment, and all his power will be taken away and completely destroyed. 27 Then the sovereignty, power, and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be given to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will last forever, and all rulers will serve and obey him.”

That is our eternal hope, our destiny, our great reward.
Jesus good - Devil bad - God wins.
I love happy endings and this one is the real deal.

The Hand Writing Is On The Wall

Day 12
.
Daniel 5
This man Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, has exceptional ability and is filled with divine knowledge and understanding. He can interpret dreams, explain riddles, and solve difficult problems.
.
This . . .
Does anyone want to be like Daniel? You know, interpret a dream, explain a riddle, solve a difficult problem.
Sometimes, when "the hand writing is on the wall", it's not that hard to figure out.
.
That . . .
It seems that there is a common thread to all of these " bad guy has a dream and man of God interprets" passages in the Bible.
Generally the intreptation is, "You better get it together concerning who you are and who God is, or things will not go well for you."
The hand writing is on the wall concerning these United States and the interpretation is the same.
For Belteshazzar it was too late.
For our nation, there is still time to turn.
.
This is That . . .
This is the message that was written: Mene, Mene, Tekel, and Parsin.

Day 11

This . . .
Still catching up - Thursday.
.
That . . .
I drank a glass of lemonade today. It was delicious.
.
This is That . . .
Daniel 4
I was looking, and behold,
A tree in the midst of the earth,
And its height was great.
11 The tree grew and became strong;
Its height reached to the heavens,
And it could be seen to the ends of all the earth.
12 Its leaves were lovely,
Its fruit abundant,
And in it was food for all.
The beasts of the field found shade under it,
The birds of the heavens dwelt in its branches,
And all flesh was fed from it.

.
Sounds like a great tree. It's not.
Read the whole chapter to get . . . the rest of the story.

Goofy

Day 10
.
This . . .
Reverse Blogging
.
That . . .
Had a great time of intercession on Wednesday evening with about fifteen "goofy" people.
God loves goofy. Goofy is putting mud on someones blind eyes because God said to do it. Goofy is walking around an enemy stronghold seven times blowing trumpets and then shouting when God says shout. Goofy is being last so you can be first - going low to get high. Goofy is laying hands on a sick person so that they will recover. Goofy is fasting and praying for forty days and then gathering together for a solomn assembly and expecting God to answer our cry.
.
This is That . . .
Cry out. Press in. Contend. Eyes to see. Knowledge and wisdom. Healing. Purity. Direction. Understanding. Power to battle. Ears to hear. Spirit of prophecy. Dreams. Visions. Release the word of the Lord. Justice. Restoration. Forgiveness. Waiting.

Day 9

This . . .
In case you can't read the above sub-title it says, "I have a bit of acting background myself, for years I pretended to be pro-choice".
.
That . . .
I don't know much about Fred Thompson, but what I have seen I like.
.
This is That . . .
I don't believe God is indifferent. He does not have an attitude of "whoever". He has his choice for president picked out, but at this point, I don't think we know who it is. The decision will be made in the place of prayer.
If we pray . . .
.
Who do you think God's choice might be?

Forty Day Weak Offering

.
Day 8 . . . Psalms 24
3 Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD?
Or who may stand in His holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,

.
This . . .
I want to know God.
I desire to ascend the hill of the Lord and stand in His holy place.
Create in me a clean heart, oh God. I desire to be pure as you are pure.
Give me clean hands and a pure heart.
.
That . . .
Forty days for forty years.
This is NOT a forty day PAYMENT for forty years of bad behavior.
The forty days is a very weak offering to God requesting that a very great debt be forgiven.
God knows if we have been naughty or nice and he has a great memory. He also never just let's things go, he demands justice.
We have only one choice. To cry out for mercy and forgiveness and to be so thankful for the blood of Jesus.
.
This is that . . .
.
Jason Upton Lyrics - "No Sacrifice" from his "Faith" CD

To you I give my life, not just the parts I want to
To you I sacrifice these dreams that I hold on to

Your thoughts are higher than mine
Your words are deeper than mine
Your love is stronger than mine
This is no sacrifice . . . Here's my life

To you I give the gifts - Your love has given me
How can I hoard the treasures that you've designed for free?
To you I give my future - As long as it may last
To you I give my present - To you I give my past

This is no sacrifice . . . Here's my life

Can You Say Detox?

.
Day 7 . . . Daniel 1
12 “Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then let our appearance be examined before you, and the appearance of the young men who eat the portion of the king’s delicacies; and as you see fit, so deal with your servants.” 14 So he consented with them in this matter, and tested them ten days.
15 And at the end of ten days their features appeared better and fatter in flesh than all the young men who ate the portion of the king’s delicacies.

.
This . . .
My mom always told me to eat my vegetables.
.
That . . .
Have you ever heard of the Master Cleanse? It's time to clean house.
.
This is that . . .
6 Now from among those of the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. 7 To them the chief of the eunuchs gave names: he gave Daniel the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abed-Nego.
.
Why do you suppose the chief of the eunuchs changed their names?

Prayer for Strength

.
Day 6 . . . Ephesians 3
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

This . . .
What a great prayer. The suggestion is, that if we pray this, God will do it.
.
That . . .
There are three basic types of prayer.
.
The first is worship. In this prayer, we proclaim to God who He is. He is good. He is holy. He is full of love and mercy. He is righteous. He is the one who created the heavens and the earth. He placed the stars in their places and seperated the water from the dry land. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and He is our God too.
.
A second type is the prayer of petition, where we ask God to give us our daily bread . . . to supply all our needs according to His riches in heaven thru Christ Jesus. It is hard not to dwell on this one, because we really are poor and needy.
.
The third is intercession and consists of praying for others. One persons prayers of petition are another persons prayers of intercession. This is where we cry out for God to rend the heavens and come down; to heal the sick; to break in with power and bring down strongholds of the enemy; to open the eyes of the lost and give them a moment of clarity to see their sinfullness, to see their need of a saviour, and to see that his name is Jesus.
.
This is that . . .
As I was praying earlier today, I began to list as many believers as I could think of and lost count after about 50. For all of those and whoever might be reading this . . .
I bow my knee to the Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who has been given all authority over all things, and pray that God would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man. God I pray that Christ would dwell in their inner man thru faith and that they would be rooted and grounded in love. Let them know, God, the love of Christ which passes all understanding and let them be filled with all the fullness of God.
I pray this with full expectation that you will do it because it is in the mighty name of Jesus that I pray.
And one more thing, God . . . me too.
AMEN.

The Goofy Elijah Tree

Day 5 . . . II Kings 6
15 And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”
16 So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

This . . .
In my spiritual journey, it seems that I often times go out and find an army of the bad kind surrounding me with horses and chariots.
At those times, it is hard not to focus on the "bad whatever it is". I see the mountain and tend to say, "Alas, what shall I do?"
If I could find one of those goofy "Elijah Trees", I would just go get under it and say, "God, I think I'll just die now".
I have been there more than I like these past few years.
That . . .
I want to see all those angels of fire camped around about me, but I wonder if angles even know where Arkansas is. I'm sure they do, but then again I'm not sure they know where I live. Oh, of course they know where I live, don't listen to me.
OPEN MY EYES, GOD!
This is that . . .
God, I believe . . . help my unbelief. Open my eyes and let me see that you are near. Make a way, God, where there seems to be no way. Come again, and lift me up out of the miry clay and set my feet high on a rock.
.
By the way, in the above passage, Elisha winds up taking his enemy home for lunch, just for fun.
